At a glance.
- Re-architected USGS.gov into a centralized Drupal platform in AWS.
- Consolidated 300+ microsites under a unified enterprise framework.
- Implemented COPE content strategy across science centers and programs.
- Developed reusable Drupal modules for cross-site consistency.
- Modernized answers.usgs.gov into a structured support platform.
- Trained 40+ stakeholders across USGS regions.
Fragmented systems, siloed content.
USGS operated hundreds of independent microsites across science centers, laboratories, and programs. Content was distributed, inconsistently structured, and difficult to manage at scale.
Legacy systems limited reuse, governance, and visibility across the enterprise. Publishing workflows varied by site, creating inefficiencies and technical redundancies that constrained modernization.
USGS needed a unified platform capable of supporting scientific diversity while establishing enterprise standards.
A centralized enterprise platform.
Mobomo redeveloped USGS.gov within AWS Cloud Hosting Services, establishing the Drupal Palladium platform as a shared foundation for the agency’s digital presence. The platform embraced a Create Once, Publish Everywhere model, enabling structured taxonomies that connected content across subsites and eliminated duplication. Reusable Drupal modules were engineered to comply with USGS development standards and deploy consistently across environments. Custom modules, including a unified Water Module, improved branding consistency, reduced maintenance overhead, and elevated data presentation quality.

Enterprise cohesion at scale.
A unified platform supporting scientific communication across the agency.
Then three tight result statements (to match your visual layout style):
Platform consolidation.
Unified 300+ microsites under a centralized Drupal architecture.
Operational efficiency.
Reduced duplication, streamlined workflows, and standardized deployment processes.
Governed content delivery.
Enabled COPE-based publishing with structured taxonomies linking content across programs.
USGS’s digital transformation was not a redesign. It was a structural shift. Mobomo replaced fragmentation with governance, silos with shared architecture, and isolated publishing workflows with an enterprise content strategy. The result is a scalable platform that supports scientific communication today and adapts to tomorrow’s mission demands.
